Background of department/role

The University’s School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health is the University’s academic and professional home for Nursing, and the Allied Health Professions, and for all those interested in improving public health and well-being. We achieve this through our research, and by providing a portfolio of courses and other learning opportunities that are creative, inspirational and empowering, and which develop knowledge, policy and practice. Our research work within the School focuses on the improvement of nursing, health and care services, health and well-being by co-producing solutions in close collaboration with service users and other stakeholders.

We offer an exciting portfolio of nursing and applied healthcare courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels alongside internationally renowned applied research in implementation and diagnostic practice and policy. The School provides courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels for Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiography, Medical Ultrasound, Clinical Reporting, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic Science, Speech & Language Therapy, Operating Department Practice, Ophthalmic Dispensing professions. In addition, we offer courses that reflect a Public Health perspective around health promotion, mental health and global public health. We have exciting plans for the growth of both our educational and research courses and are keen to attract people who share our ambitions to make a difference.

The role

We provide an MSc SLT course, to widen access to careers within speech and language therapy. Our areas of professional and research interests within speech and language therapy include implementation and improvement science, health promotion.

We hope to recruit a colleague to join our academic team who shares our passion for supporting the development of speech and language therapy, who will contribute to our courses and research developments. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff in Allied & Public Health and across the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health to advance interprofessional education and research.

Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align with the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
