An excellent opportunity to lead and develop a new and innovative BSc in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. At Canterbury Christ Church University focusing on academic admissions and student welfare.
This Senior Lecturer role for Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy (Admissions and Student Wellbeing) provides academic and strategic leadership to support the successful delivery of the BSc DHDT programme at Canterbury Christ Church University. The postholder works closely with the Course Director to ensure the programme meets institutional and General Dental Council (GDC) requirements while promoting excellence in education, clinical practice, and student experience.
A key aspect of the role is to lead and manage student admissions, ensuring processes are fair, inclusive, and aligned with NHS workforce planning priorities. This role will oversee student wellbeing across both campuses, coordinating personal tutors, embedding supportive systems, and fostering a culture of compassion and resilience. They play a central role in maintaining high academic and clinical standards through collaboration, quality assurance, and governance.
The role also involves supporting curriculum design, clinical risk management, and compliance with all relevant educational frameworks. Working across the Canterbury and Medway campuses, the postholder ensures parity in student experience and contributes to the continuous improvement of the programme. Ultimately, this position combines educational leadership with a strong focus on student support, wellbeing, and the holistic development of future dental professionals.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced dental professional, registered with the General Dental Council, with a strong background in clinical practice and dental education. You should demonstrate expertise in managing student admissions and welfare, ensuring inclusive, transparent, and equitable processes that align with professional and institutional standards.
You will be a compassionate and student-focused educator, they will be committed to supporting learner wellbeing, resilience, and professional growth across both campuses.
You will have strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills are essential, with the ability to foster collaboration between academic staff, clinical partners, and support services.

How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is hybrid, Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
The working pattern is flexible and the exact working pattern will be discussed at interview. (0.6 FTE) 22.2 hours per week.
