Assessments Team Leader
£32,080-£34,610 per annum with further progression opportunities up to £36,636
  Canterbury, Kent
  permanent,full-time

We're looking for experienced and motivated Assessment Team Leaders to join our central Assessments and Awards Management team.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering one of the University's most critical operational services. You'll oversee the administration of assessment processes from Module Ratification through to Progression and Award Boards, ensuring student results, progression decisions and awards are processed accurately and on time.

You'll lead a team responsible for managing large volumes of assessment data, coordinating complex operational processes and maintaining the integrity of the University's student record. Accuracy, organisation and strong leadership are essential, as your team's work directly supports the student experience and the University's academic standards.

This role has clear peaks throughout the academic year, requiring someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving operational challenges and can confidently balance competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Working closely with colleagues across Academic Schools, Professional Services and partner institutions, you'll help drive continuous improvement, support regulatory compliance and ensure the successful delivery of assessment services across the University.

Who we are looking for

You'll be an experienced team leader with a track record of delivering high-quality operational services in a complex environment.

You will enjoy working with data, processes and people, combining excellent organisational skills with the ability to motivate a team and maintain high standards during busy periods. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, solving problems and making sound operational decisions while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.

Experience of Higher Education, assessment administration or student records systems such as SITS would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience gained in similarly regulated environments.

If you're an organised and collaborative leader who takes pride in delivering an excellent service and developing others, we'd love to hear from you.

How will you work

Flexible and connected (Professional Services) Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.

We are committed to supporting flexible working where possible, and we encourage a healthy work-life balance. At the same time, we aim to ensure that business needs and service expectations are met, and that we maintain a strong collaborative culture across the team.
